Once again, Dr. Stephen P. Leatherman, otherwise known as Dr. Beach, has named the St. George Island State Park one of the top ten beaches in America.  We’re #3 this year!  Dr. Beach is a professor at Florida International University and a coastal scientist.  His annual Top 10 list uses 50 criteria including water color, sand softness, rip currents, wildlife, viewing vistas, water quality, turbidity, pollution and safety record.

The Julian G. Bruce Park, located on the east end of the island has over nine miles of white sand beaches.  Activities include swimming, boating, hiking, birding, fishing and camping.  Check out more from Dr. Beach at his website www.drbeach.org.
